Carol's Imaginative Process

Carol’s imagination starts wandering at the jumping off point from a general theme, when she is painting with watercolor and creating mixed media art. It’s easy flowing and in the moment expression.

Carol’s travels have been an inspiration for her watercolors. Through her photographs, she compiles an imaginative replica, while she recollects and re-experiences places and events.

She begins with a rough pencil sketch. An example of her process for mixed media, is the use of a wet application technique. Which is drops of watercolor onto wet cold pressed paper. Next a strategic sloping of the paper produces an effect with the colors. When dry, the watercolor contours can be traced and embellished with pigment ink marker. She then envisions the organic images, leading to creating superimposed designs.

Some of the paintings in this gallery are available for purchase and others are part of Carol’s permanent collection

All original watercolors are produced using Dr. Philip Martin’s Hydrus Fine Art Watercolors. The paper is acid free, heavy weight Strathmore Watercolor cold press stock. Most of the works displayed are 11”x15”” or 13” x 17” before mating and fit a 12” x 16” or 16” x 20” mat. All the artwork in this gallery is titled and single matted, secured with acid-free, non-permanent, non-staining artist tape and ready for framing.
